Singer and former judge of reality show Nigerian Idol, Yinka Davies has lost her first child Jeremiah.

The 50-year-old revealed this in a Punch interview on Tuesday.

She said, “I lost my firstborn, my son. I have two boys but I lost my firstborn. He was 27 when he died, he would have been 28 years old on the 21st of February.

Davies said Jeremiah has been in and out of the hospital for 10 months.

“Autoimmune blood tissue disorder; I think that is the layman term for the cause of his death. He had been battling the illness for about 10 months. He was in and out of the hospital for about 10 months. He died on Friday,” she said.

She also added that he was cared for by her sisters.

“For the family, it is still too much to process his death. We are all grieving in our own way because he is everybody’s child. My sisters took care of him. During his last days, he refused to be admitted because he gets bored easily. He was a very active child and keeping him in one place would have been so tiresome. Let us just thank God for his life,” Davies said.

Davies also broke the news with a picture of her son in an Instagram post on Tuesday.

“For those who held you in their hearts, those you waved at on your strolls, For those who cried the tears they couldn’t hold back, Cos you are no more here.

“For those who washed you when you were weak, those who were scared to see you ill, For those who thought you madly stubborn cos you, Wouldn’t take another pill,” she wrote.

Celebrities including Shaffy Bello, Sammie Okposo, Nikki Laoye and Lilian Bach have condoled with her.
