Dr. Olorunnimbe Mamora, the Minister of State for Health has appealed to newly inducted foreign trained medical and dental graduates not to give death certificates to the living.

Mamora advised the newly inducted medical and dental graduates to resist the temptation of also giving sick certificates to healthy persons.

The minister encouraged them to seek collaborative means to grow their skills and exposure in the profession by understanding when to seek a second opinion or refer a patient to another doctor who knows better in a particular area.

Mamora recalled that following the Federal Government’s decision, the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) will now be in charge of the posting, placement and payment of house officers’ emoluments.

The minister spoke on Thursday at the swearing-in of foreign trained medical and dental graduates by the MDCN in Abuja.

He said: “I must inform all the inductees that today marks the beginning of a new phase in your life. Medical and Dental professions require continuous training and learning; acquiring knowledge and skills in them to remain a lifelong endeavor. You need to learn from your seniors, peers and even from your younger colleagues.”
