Nigerian actor Taye Arimoro has served actress and producer Peggy Ovire a pre-action notice, accusing her and her production team of assault, unlawful detention and a gross violation of his fundamental human rights.

This comes days after WITHIN NIGERIA reported that the actors accused each other of assault after clashing on a movie set.

Arimoro made the latest development public on Tuesday night November 18, when he posted the notice on Instagram with a caption addressed to Peggy Ovire.

It stated that the actress who is married to Freddie Leonard had been served and should direct all responses to his solicitors. The petition, issued by Inibehe Effiong Chambers and dated November 18, 2025, alleges that the incident occurred on November 11 after Arimoro completed his work on the set of Peggy Ovire’s production.

According to the document, Arimoro had been contracted to appear in two films titled ‘Choir Master’and ‘Pieces of Love’, with his contract ending at exactly 11:59 pm on November 11. He reportedly arrived on set at 10:39 am that day and filmed until the final minute of his contract. The trouble allegedly began when he informed the production manager that he was leaving, having completed all assigned scenes.

The petition claims the production manager physically obstructed him by holding onto his moving vehicle, damaging its interior, while the production driver allegedly blocked the street exit and threatened him, saying he would have stabbed him “if he had a knife.”

For his safety, Arimoro began an Instagram Live as the situation escalated. Upon reaching the estate gate, the petition states that Ovire appeared with a group of 10 to 15 individuals, including estate security and a mobile police officer. They reportedly surrounded his vehicle, demanded that he return to set and, on Peggy Ovire’s instruction, the production driver allegedly deflated three of Arimoro’s tyres, immobilising his car.

Members of her team were also said to have banged on his windows and attempted to force the door open. When Arimoro eventually exited the vehicle to meet a Bolt ride he had ordered, he was allegedly attacked by Peggy Ovire, her driver and other members of the team.

The petition lists injuries including a fractured mandible from being punched in the face, a bloody mouth, bite marks on his chest and thigh, and the loss of his balance as he was knocked to the ground along with his phone, AirPods and other personal items.

Peggy Ovire is further accused of attempting to delete evidence from his phone before he retrieved it. His lawyers say photographs, videos and medical reports support these claims. The petition argues that the alleged actions amount to violations of Arimoro’s right to dignity, freedom of movement and personal liberty as guaranteed by the 1999 Constitution. It also cites emotional trauma, psychological stress and loss of earnings resulting from his injuries.

Taye Arimoro is demanding a public video apology from Ovire, to be posted permanently on her verified Instagram account and across her social platforms, as well as the payment of ₦100 million in damages.

Peggy Ovire has been given seven days to comply, failing which Arimoro’s legal team says it will institute legal action against her and her production company.
