It is another black Monday for the people of Umuoji community in Anambra state as the family of Mmadubugwu was said to have lost their daughter to a man known to be her fiance.
Narrating the ugly incident, the victim’s cousin Nonso Mmadu told WITHIN NIGERIA that “Valentine Anaikpe called my cousin Ogechukwu Mmadubugwu on Monday 8/12/2025 night around 9pm that he wasn’t feeling strong and cannot help him self that she should help buy him some medication and bring to his house.
Narrating further, Nonso stated that “my cousin out of love and empathy bought the medications and took it to him since his house was not too far from hers.
“On getting to his house, the guy pretended that the situation was getting worse and pleaded with my cousin to sleep over and help him out.
“My cousin called her mum and informed her of the situation; that she will not be able to come back home that night till the next morning. No body knew he already had his plans waiting to be executed.
“The next morning being Tuesday 9/12/2025, my cousin didn’t return home. Efforts were made to reach to her and her supposed fiancé but no one was picking call.”

Explaining further, the cousin stressed that “few hours later, everyone started panicking and some people were sent to the guy’s house to know what was happening only for them to find the lifeless body of my cousin on the floor. She has been stabbed with knife and sharp objects like an animal. Her blood was all over the house.
“But the guy was no where to be found and till now, nobody knows his whereabouts.”
Asked if the matter has been reported to the security agents, Mr. Mmadu stated that ” we have reported the matter to the Nigeria police but since then, they keep on telling us that the incident is still being investigated.”
On whether they suspect foul play in the death of his cousin since his fiance was no where to be found, Mr. Mmadu answered in the positive, stressing that justice should be done in the death of Ogechukwu Mmadubugwu.
“Please if you have any information about this guy report to the nearest police station or kindly reach out to us through 08035279901. My cousin deserves justice.
However, the Anambra state police command is yet to confirm the incident.
All efforts to get the reaction of the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO of the command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga proved abortive as his number was not going through.
