President Bola Tinubu has nominated Joseph Tegbe as Minister of Power, pending Senate confirmation. The nomination follows the resignation of Adebayo Adelabu.


Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, announced the nomination in a statement on Thursday.

“His nomination is expected to further strengthen ongoing efforts to reform the power sector, enhance grid stability, and attract sustainable investment in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda,” Onanuga said.

He was born March 21, 1966, in Oyo Town

Tegbe hails from Jegede Compound, Labo, Ibadan, Oyo State

His parents are Pa Joseph Adejinmi Tegbe and Mrs. Rhoda Olubunmi Tegbe, née Ibikunle, of the Akogun Ibikunle family in Orile-Owu.

Tegbe holds a First Class Degree in Civil Engineering from Obafemi Awolowo University, 1988

He is an alumnus of Lagos Business School, INSEAD France, Harvard Kennedy School, and Harvard Business School, where he completed Executive Management and Advanced Management programmes

He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and the Chartered Institute of Taxation

He is also Certified in Governance of Enterprise IT.

Tegbe has 30 years of experience in institutional transformation and sector reforms

He has served as Senior Partner and Head of Technology Advisory Services at KPMG Nigeria, and later as Senior Partner and Head of Advisory Services at KPMG Africa, overseeing portfolios across the Middle East

He also led KPMG Africa’s Cybersecurity practice and the Public Sector and TMT divisions

Earlier in his career, he worked at Shell Petroleum Development Company and Arthur Andersen

His public service roles include Chairman of the National Council for Management Development, Chairman of the Boards of Trustees for Unity Schools Old Students Association and Federal Government College Ogbomosho OSA

On September 29, 2024, President Tinubu appointed him Director-General & Global Liaison, Nigeria-China Strategic Partnership

He is in active member of the Nigerian Economic Summit Group
