Nollywood actor Alexx Ekubo has reportedly died. The heartbreaking news has thrown fans and the entertainment industry into mourning following reports confirmed by TVC.
The report began spreading on social media after actor Godwin Nadiekwe and filmmaker Sam Olatunji shared emotional posts mourning the actor. Some online reports claimed Alexx Ekubo died in a Lagos hospital after battling an illness, while others alleged he had been fighting cancer.

Godwin Nadiekwe wrote on Instagram:
“I’m struggling to find the words. This news has truly broken me.
Nollywood has lost a rare soul, and I’m lost for words because this wasn’t the plan, Alex Ekubo. To think you already prepared your will — it’s a heartbreak I can’t quite describe. Rest well, my friend.”
He also added:
“Goodnight Alex. Cancer you did this one.”
Blogger Tosin Silverdam also shared a video claiming the actor passed away in the early hours of Tuesday, May 12, 2026, after reportedly battling cancer.
Before the reports surfaced, many fans had already expressed concern over Alexx Ekubo’s long absence from social media. His last Instagram post was made on December 30, 2024, leading to months of speculation about his health and wellbeing. In 2025, actor Stanley Ontop publicly dismissed rumours that the actor was seriously ill, saying Alexx had simply stepped away from social media because it had become “too toxic” for him.
Born on April 10, 1986, Alexx Ekubo (40) is one of Nollywood’s most recognised actors, known for films such as Weekend Getaway, The Bling Lagosians and A Sunday Affair.
