For several years, singer Chike built a reputation as one of Nigeria’s most emotionally expressive music stars, earning recognition for songs centred on love, devotion and vulnerability.
Through records such as “Running to You” and “Roju,” the artiste became widely associated with romantic ballads that gained popularity at weddings, proposals and intimate celebrations.
The singer, whose full name is Chike Ezekpeazu Osebuka, developed an identity in Afrobeats that many fans connected with emotional sincerity and heartfelt storytelling.
Recent social media speculation, however, has shifted attention away from his music career and towards allegations linking him to the collapse of a celebrity marriage.
Unverified reports circulating online alleged that Chike was romantically involved with Sandra Edoho, the estranged wife of television host Frank Edoho.
Although no official confirmation has been made by the parties involved, the rumours have continued to dominate conversations across social media platforms.
Born on January 28, 1993, Chike hails from Onitsha in Anambra State and studied computer engineering at Covenant University before pursuing entertainment full-time.
He began his music career after winning a “vocalist of the year” award during his secondary school years and later appeared on the eighth edition of MTN Project Fame West Africa.
Despite failing to win the competition, the experience marked the beginning of his rise within Nigeria’s music industry.
Chike later participated in the maiden edition of The Voice Nigeria, where he advanced to the final stage and finished as first runner-up behind Arese.
His performance on the talent show earned him a recording contract with Universal Republic alongside other finalists from the competition.
The singer released his debut single “Fancy U” in December 2016 before the accompanying music video was unveiled in 2017.
That same year, he also ventured into acting after securing the role of Mayowa Badmus in the television drama series “Battleground.”
Following his exit from Universal Republic in 2017, Chike continued his career independently and gradually expanded his audience through a blend of soul, highlife and contemporary Afrobeats influences.
His breakthrough arrived in 2018 with the release of “Beautiful People,” a song that introduced him to a broader mainstream audience.
The momentum surrounding his career strengthened further after the release of his debut album “Boo of the Booless” in 2020.
The 14-track project received critical acclaim and positioned him among the leading voices in modern Afrobeats romance and alternative pop music.
Chike later released “The Brother’s Keeper” in 2022 and “Son of Chike” in 2024 while also making another appearance in Nollywood through Jade Osiberu’s “Gangs of Lagos.”
Before the recent controversy emerged, Chike had publicly reflected on his ability to avoid scandals within the entertainment industry.
During a 2023 interview, he said, “I do not know, but what I always tell people is that anything can be scandalous… it just depends on the people involved and how hotheaded they are. So, maybe I have just been lucky to find a middle ground where nobody blows things out of proportion”.
Attention later shifted towards the singer after Frank Edoho disclosed that his second marriage ended in December 2022.
The television host described the experience as “devastating” and recently stated that he would no longer commit himself to only one woman.
Last Tuesday, Edoho also said he was gradually recovering from the failed marriage.
Following those remarks, online speculation intensified after rumours claimed Sandra Edoho had allegedly been involved with a Nigerian singer during the marriage.
Although no individual was directly identified, social media users began associating Chike with the allegations.
The controversy generated mixed reactions online, with some users criticising the singer despite the absence of confirmed evidence.
Others argued that conclusions should not be drawn without verified accounts from those directly involved.
After several days of public reactions, Chike posted a brief message on his X account stating, “Pity my soul”.
The singer later released a song bearing the same title, though he did not directly address the allegations surrounding him.
Neither Frank Edoho nor Sandra Edoho has publicly identified the unnamed singer linked to the rumours.
The situation has continued to fuel debate online, largely driven by speculation, interpretation and public curiosity.
For Chike, whose public image has long been tied to romance-themed music, the controversy has placed unusual attention on the relationship between celebrity branding and personal narratives.
Whether the speculation eventually fades or develops further, the discussions surrounding the singer underline how quickly public perception can shift within the entertainment industry.
