With the 2026 FIFA World Cup fast approaching, football’s next generation of stars is attracting as much attention off the pitch as on it, with transfer valuations highlighting the players expected to shape the tournament.

The latest assessment by the CIES Football Observatory places Spain and Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal at the summit of global football’s most valuable players, underlining the remarkable rise of the teenager ahead of the competition in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

At just 18 years old, Yamal is estimated to be worth €358 million ($416 million), making him the highest-valued footballer in the world according to the ranking.

The valuation reflects the growing influence of the Barcelona star, who has established himself as one of the most sought-after talents in the game despite his young age.

Haaland, Mbappe remain among elite

Occupying second place on the list is Manchester City striker Erling Haaland, whose estimated transfer value stands at €227 million ($256 million).

The Norway international continues to rank among football’s most prolific goalscorers and remains one of the sport’s most commercially valuable players.

Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe completes the top three with a valuation of €166 million ($192 million).

The France captain remains one of the most recognisable figures in world football and is expected to play a leading role at the World Cup.

Together, Yamal, Haaland and Mbappe form the top three most valuable players in global football heading into the tournament.

Young talents dominate rankings

The remainder of the top 10 list is dominated by emerging stars whose market values have risen significantly through their performances at club level.

Bayern Munich winger Michael Olise occupies fourth position with an estimated value of €140.5 million.

Aston Villa midfielder Morgan Rogers follows in fifth place after being valued at €136.8 million.

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) attacker Desire Doue is ranked sixth on the list with a valuation of €133.2 million.

Juventus forward Kenan Yildiz sits narrowly behind in seventh position with an estimated transfer value of €133.0 million.

Premier League, La Liga stars feature strongly

Manchester City youngster Nico O’Reilly claims eighth place with a valuation of €125.0 million.

Real Madrid midfielder Arda Guler occupies ninth position after being valued at €124.8 million.

Barcelona defender Pau Cubarsi completes the top 10 with an estimated market value of €124.6 million.

The rankings highlight the growing prominence of young footballers across Europe’s leading clubs and underline the significant financial value attached to elite emerging talent.

World Cup spotlight awaits

With the World Cup only days away, many of the players featured in the ranking will arrive at the tournament carrying high expectations from supporters and their respective nations.

The expanded competition provides an opportunity for football’s most valuable stars to further enhance their reputations on the sport’s biggest stage.

For Yamal, whose valuation currently exceeds every other player in world football, the tournament offers another platform to demonstrate why he is regarded as one of the game’s brightest prospects.

Whether the rankings remain unchanged after the World Cup remains to be seen, but the list offers a snapshot of the players whose performances and potential currently command the highest value in global football.
