The Federal Road Safety Corps has thrown its doors open for a new intake, and this time the numbers are expected to be big. On July 3, 2026, the FRSC recruitment portal went live at recruitment.frsc.gov.ng, giving Nigerians a four-week window to apply for positions across the Officer Cadre, Marshal Inspectorate Cadre and Road Marshal Assistant Cadre.

The announcement had been building for weeks. The Corps first signaled the exercise in a notice dated June 24, 2026, signed by Deputy Corps Marshal and Head of Administration and Human Resources, Pauline Olaye, on behalf of the Corps Marshal. That notice set the tone for everything that followed: apply online, apply for free, and don’t fall for anyone who says otherwise.

If you’ve been refreshing the FRSC website for months waiting on this, here’s everything you need before you touch the application form.

When the FRSC 2026 Recruitment Portal Opened and Closes

The portal opened on Friday, July 3, 2026, and stays open for four weeks from that date. Going by the Corps’ own wording, applicants should treat early August 2026 as the realistic closing point, though the exact date has moved around slightly depending on which official update you check. Some reports put the cutoff around August 1, others as late as August 24. That gap alone tells you something important: don’t wait on a rumored date. Check recruitment.frsc.gov.ng directly before you assume you still have time.

One thing every source agrees on: the portal will get slower as the deadline approaches. It happens every cycle. Thousands of applicants wait until the final days, the servers strain under the load, and people lose hours they didn’t have to lose. If you’re eligible, there’s no real upside to waiting.

The Three Cadres FRSC Is Recruiting For

FRSC structured this exercise around three broad categories, and picking the right one matters more than most applicants realize.

Officer Cadre is for degree and HND holders. Within this cadre sit the Superintendent Route Commander positions (CONPASS 11), which specifically require a first degree in MBBS or MB.BCH for medical doctor roles, along with an NYSC discharge or exemption certificate. Below that are Route Commanders, Deputy Route Commanders and Assistant Route Commanders, open to graduates with a B.Sc, BA, B.Tech or HND in relevant fields. The Corps also welcomes professionals such as pharmacists, nurses, medical laboratory scientists, lawyers and engineers into this category, depending on the specific vacancy.

Marshal Inspectorate Cadre covers holders of NCE, ND or OND, along with Registered Nurses, Registered Midwives and Community Health Extension Workers. This is the middle tier, built for candidates with intermediate qualifications who don’t yet hold a degree but bring specialized training.

Road Marshal Assistant Cadre is the entry point for SSCE holders, drivers, riders and artisans. Applicants here need at least five credit passes, including English Language and Mathematics, though some listings specify three credits obtained in no more than two sittings. If you’re unsure which number applies to you, the safest move is to confirm on the portal itself rather than relying on any third-party recruitment blog, including this one.

Who Can Apply: Eligibility Requirements

FRSC laid out a fairly strict list of general conditions that cut across all three cadres:

  • Must be a Nigerian citizen by birth
  • Must be computer literate
  • Must be medically and physically fit
  • Must be single at the time of application
  • Must be of good character, with no criminal conviction and no history of financial indebtedness
  • Must not have visible tattoos anywhere on the body
  • Must not be pregnant, in the case of female applicants

Age is another sticking point, and here the sources diverge slightly. Most put the range at 18 to 35 years, though one update narrowed it to 18 to 30 for standard positions, with allowance up to 35 for specialist roles clearly stated in the recruitment notice. Height requirements also vary by source: the official recruitment notice cited by Vanguard and The Nation puts the minimum at 1.65 metres for men and 1.58 metres for women, while at least one independent recruitment site listed slightly higher figures. Given how strictly FRSC enforces physical standards at the screening stage, don’t guess. Confirm the exact figures on the official portal before you invest time in an application you might not physically qualify for.

Step-by-Step: How to Apply on the FRSC Recruitment Portal

The application process runs entirely online, and it isn’t complicated once you know the sequence:

  1. Visit the official portal. Go to recruitment.frsc.gov.ng. Avoid any site that looks similar but isn’t the official domain.
  2. Register an account. Click on the registration option and create your applicant profile using an email address and phone number that belong to you personally, not a friend or a cybercafé attendant. This is the only channel FRSC will use to reach you if you’re shortlisted.
  3. Confirm your registration. Check your inbox for a confirmation link, then log back into the portal.
  4. Select your cadre. Choose the category that matches your qualification. Applying for a cadre you don’t qualify for is one of the most common reasons candidates get disqualified at the screening stage.
  5. Fill out the application form. Enter your bio-data exactly as it appears on your NIN and academic certificates. FRSC cross-checks this information against the NIN database, so inconsistencies here can cost you the entire application.
  6. Upload your documents. Scan and upload each required document according to the specified file type and size.
  7. Review everything. Go through the form one more time before you hit submit. Once it’s in, corrections are difficult.
  8. Submit and save your acknowledgement slip. Print or save this slip. You may be asked to present it at the physical screening stage.

Documents to Prepare Before You Start

Applicants are advised to gather these before opening the portal, not during the session:

  • National Identity Number (NIN) or National Identification Card
  • Birth certificate or age declaration
  • Relevant academic credentials for your chosen cadre
  • NYSC discharge or exemption certificate, where applicable
  • Local Government Identification or Certificate of Origin
  • A recent passport photograph
  • Any relevant professional license, for cadre-specific roles like medicine, law or nursing

Trying to locate a scanned document mid-application is a common way sessions time out.

What Happens After You Submit

FRSC reviews every application received, checking eligibility and document accuracy before shortlisting candidates who meet the stated requirements. Shortlisted applicants are contacted through the email and phone number provided at registration, and names are also published on the official FRSC website.

From there, the process moves through a Computer-Based Test covering verbal reasoning, numerical aptitude, general knowledge, road safety regulations and traffic law. Candidates who scale that hurdle proceed to physical screening, where height is measured, documents are verified against official databases, and a medical examination is carried out.

Is FRSC Recruitment 2026 Really Free?

Yes, and the Corps has been unusually direct about it. The notice states plainly that the recruitment attracts no cost at any stage, from application through training and deployment. FRSC has repeatedly warned that anyone requesting payment for a slot, a shortlist guarantee, or “assistance” with the process is a fraudster, full stop. Report such attempts and steer clear.

Tips That Actually Improve Your Chances

A few patterns show up in almost every FRSC recruitment cycle, and they’re worth mentioning because they quietly disqualify people who were otherwise eligible.

Match your names across every document. If your certificate reads differently from your NIN or your birth certificate, even by a middle name, fix it before you apply. FRSC validates applicant information against the NIN database, and mismatches are one of the fastest ways to get flagged.

Declare every qualification you hold. The Corps has been explicit that undeclared certificates won’t count later for career progression, even if you already have the job. If you have a professional license or an extra diploma, put it on the form now.

Don’t sit on your application. Early submission gives you room to fix errors, re-upload a document, or troubleshoot a slow connection without the clock working against you. Waiting until the final week means competing with everyone else who also waited.

Stay reachable. Use a phone number and email you check regularly. FRSC sends CBT and screening notifications through these channels only, and a missed message can mean a missed slot.
