The names of nineteen candidates who will vie for the 2027 presidential election have been released.
The names of the presidential candidates and their running mates were published by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, on Sunday.
The electoral body had published the credentials and personal details of the candidates on Saturday.
The documents, contained in Form EC9, are on display at INEC offices nationwide in compliance with the provisions of the Electoral Act, allowing members of the public to examine the information submitted by candidates seeking elective office.
According to INEC, the publication of Form EC9 is a legal requirement under Section 29(3) of the Electoral Act, 2026, which mandates the commission to publish the personal particulars, affidavits and credentials submitted by candidates within 21 days of receiving nominations from political parties.
The commission stated that the documents are available for public inspection at its offices nationwide, including those of state and local governments, to promote transparency in the electoral process.
