Nigerian actress, Atinuke Remilekun Kareem, has passed away after a long battle with breast cancer.

Her death came eight days after veteran actor, Taiwo Hassan, better known as Ogogo, died. He also died from cancer.

Atinuke’s death was announced by the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria, TAMPAN,

In a statement by Owolabi Ajasa, the governor of the Ogun State chapter of TAMPAN, on Tuesday, the association thanked everyone who supported spiritually and contributed financially to the treatment of the actress.

“We sincerely appreciate everyone who contributed financially, offered prayers, encouragement, and support towards the treatment of our dear colleague, ATINUKE REMILEKUN KAREEM.

“Sadly, despite all our efforts and prayers, Atinuke has passed on and answered the final call.

“We cannot question the Almighty God. We can only submit to His will and pray that He grants her eternal rest and gives her family, colleagues, and loved ones the strength to bear this painful loss,” the statement read

Atinuke had appealed to the public for financial aid four months ago to treat the ailment.

She is the fifth thespian to die from the dreadful and virulent disease this year.

Ogogo died last week. Alexx Ekubo died of Advanced metastatic kidney cancer early this year. Temitope Osoba died of breast cancer in July, while Oby Kechere (Ms Koi Koi) had  a prolonged battle with kidney cancer before succumbing to it
