Shortlisted applicants for the Nigeria Customs Service recruitment exercise are required to present specific documents before they can proceed with the physical screening and documentation stage.
The Nigeria Customs Service announced the requirements in a statement issued on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, by the National Public Relations Officer for the Comptroller-General of Customs, Deputy Comptroller of Customs, Abdullahi Maiwada, PhD, mnior, mniia.
Candidates are expected to appear at the screening venue with the original copies of their credentials as well as photocopies of the documents.
The required documents include a National Identification Number, an original birth certificate or declaration of age, and relevant educational certificates.
Applicants must also provide their certificate of state of origin, two recent passport photographs and a completed guarantor’s form.
Those for whom it is applicable are required to present their National Youth Service Corps certificate as part of the documentation.
What candidates should take along
The educational documents to be presented may include O’Level certificates, National Diploma, Higher National Diploma, degree certificates or other qualifications relevant to the position for which the applicant was shortlisted.
Candidates are expected to ensure that the information contained in their documents corresponds with the details submitted during the recruitment process.
The Service has also specified the clothing candidates should wear for the physical aspect of the exercise, requiring participants to report in a white T-shirt, shorts and canvas shoes.
Where the screening will hold
The physical screening and documentation exercise will take place at the Nigeria Customs Command and Staff College in Gwagwalada, Abuja.
Candidates are not expected to report on any day outside the schedule assigned to their respective states and cadres.
The Customs Service stated that attendance was compulsory for shortlisted applicants participating in the recruitment process.
Applicants who fail to appear on their designated date risk being removed from further consideration for employment.
The screening and documentation stage is part of the wider recruitment process, with candidates who successfully complete the exercise expected to receive information from the Service about subsequent stages.

The recruitment exercise is being conducted under the leadership of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR.
The Service urged applicants to rely on its official communication channels for updates and other information concerning the recruitment exercise.
