Nigerian Afrobeats singer, Oluwatobiloba Anidugbe, popularly known as Kizz Daniel, has disclosed why he embarked on a prolonged break from music.
The singer was noticeably inactive on social media, absent from the public eye, and did not release any songs in the first and second quarters of the year.
His prolonged absence from music, which is uncharacteristic of him, raised concerns among his fans.
But during an interactive session with his fans on X, Kizz Daniel opened up about when he took a break from making music.
Responding to a fan via X on Friday, the award-winning singer cited the death of his mother earlier this year for his decision, adding that the break had nothing to do with his upcoming music album.
He noted that it was time to forge ahead and apologise for staying away for a long time.
The fan, @VicroyDominion1, had tweeted, guessing that working on a new album had made the singer busy and prompted him to pause for a while.
Kizz Daniel, however, said, “I paused for my Mom, not an album… Lost her this year, but I gotta keep moving for the rest of the family… sorry I came late this year.”
Recall that in 2025, Kizz Daniel also revealed that his wife had lost her mother in 2024.
Last week, Kizz Daniel released Owo Oluwa, the lead single from his fifth studio album, Radio Gidi, which is scheduled for release on the 16th of next month.
The 12-track album features artists like FOLA, BNXN, Seyi Vibez, Tinie Tempah, Shatta Wale, Young Jonn, Krizbeatz, Wave Choir, Mannywellz, Kunmie, Qing Madi, and Jahmiel.
