Kizz Daniel returns with ‘Owo Oluwa’: What his first 2026 single says about ‘Radio Gidi’
SHARE

Nigerian singer and songwriter Daniel Oluwatobiloba Anidugbe, professionally known as Kizz Daniel, has finally put his fans out of their misery with the release of his first new music of 2026.

The singer returned on Wednesday, September 16 with “Owo Oluwa,” his first official single of the year and the lead single from his forthcoming album, Radio Gidi. Released under FlyBoy INC in partnership with EMPIRE, the song features Young Jonn, Krizbeatz and Wave Choir. But beyond being Kizz Daniel’s first release of 2026, “Owo Oluwa” offers an early glimpse into the direction of an album he has been preparing alongside another major project, Uncle K.

The song’s spiritual undertone, its choir-led moments and its emphasis on gratitude make it an interesting way for the singer to begin the Radio Gidi rollout. This move has excited fans who have been expecting his long awaited project.

A Long-Awaited Return

Kizz Daniel

Kizz Daniel entered 2026 with expectations surrounding his next body of work. In May, the singer announced that he planned to release two albums in 2026 which he named Radio Gidi and Uncle K.He thanked his fans for their patience as he prepared the projects.

The announcement was significant because his last full-length album, Maverick, was released in 2023. He followed that album with the four-track TZA EP in 2024 and Uncle K: Lemon Chase in 2025, a seven-track project featuring artists including FOLA, Odumodublvck and Bella Shmurda.

With “Owo Oluwa”, however, Kizz Daniel is no longer simply talking about what is coming. The Radio Gidi campaign has officially begun.

Why ‘Owo Oluwa’ Is An Interesting First Choice

At first listen, “Owo Oluwa” sounds like a song designed to move. The record opens with a house-influenced sound before Kizz Daniel comes in with his vocals. Wave Choir then adds the recurring “Owo Oluwa nbe” refrain, while Krizbeatz builds the production with heavier beats. Young Jonn also contributes vocals.

But underneath the danceable production is a message centred on God’s blessings and gratitude. That gives the song a different character from simply being another Afrobeats record built around romance, nightlife or celebration. The celebratory feeling is still there, but the source of that celebration is spiritual.

Even the title points in that direction. “Owo Oluwa” can be understood roughly as “the hand of God,”reinforcing the song’s focus on divine blessings. That combination of an energetic production with a message of gratitude is what makes the song an intriguing introduction to Radio Gidi.

From ‘Woju’ To ‘Owo Oluwa’

Kizz Daniel

Kizz Daniel has spent more than a decade building a catalogue around catchy melodies, simple but memorable lyrics and songs that can travel easily across different audiences.

He broke into the mainstream with “Woju” and went on to release major records including “Buga,” “Cough (Odo)” and “Twe Twe.” That history matters when looking at “Owo Oluwa”.

The song does not abandon the accessible sound that has helped define Kizz Daniel’s career. Instead, it places that sound around a different subject.

The result is a record that can function as a feel-good song while still carrying a message about gratitude and divine favour. That balance could prove important as Radio Gidi takes shape.

‘Radio Gidi’ Is Now More Than An Album Title

Before “Owo Oluwa”, Radio Gidi existed largely as one of the two album titles Kizz Daniel announced for 2026. Now, listeners have their first musical introduction to the project.

Kizz Daniel had already teased the release before it arrived, posting “RG OTW – NEW MUSIC MIDNIGHT” on X and Instagram, alongside promotional material connected to Radio Gidi.

The single therefore serves two purposes. It gives fans new Kizz Daniel music after months without an official solo release in 2026, while also opening the door to the album he has chosen to call Radio Gidi.

What remains unknown is how closely the rest of the album will follow the sound and themes introduced by “Owo Oluwa”. For now, the single only provides the first clue.

What ‘Owo Oluwa’ Tells Us About ‘Radio Gidi’

It would be too early to define an entire album from one song. Still, “Owo Oluwa” provides some clues.

First, gratitude appears to be an important part of the story Kizz Daniel is beginning to tell. The song repeatedly points towards God’s blessings rather than simply presenting wealth or success as an achievement.

Second, Kizz Daniel is not abandoning accessibility. The record remains rhythmic and danceable, allowing its spiritual message to sit comfortably within a contemporary Afrobeats setting.

And third, collaboration appears to be part of the album’s musical identity, with Young Jonn, Krizbeatz and Wave Choir each contributing different elements to the opening single.

Whether those qualities will define Radio Gidi from beginning to end is something only the full project will reveal. For now, “Owo Oluwa” is the first piece of the puzzle.

Conclusion

Kizz Daniel has spent 2026 building anticipation around what comes next. With “Owo Oluwa”, he has finally given listeners something to hear and his choice of first single is telling in its own way.

He could have returned with a straightforward party record. Instead, he opened the Radio Gidi campaign with a song about blessings, gratitude and God, wrapped in a sound that remains firmly rooted in Afrobeats.

It is a familiar Kizz Daniel formula with a different emphasis. And as Radio Gidi moves from an announced album to an actual body of music, the question now is whether the rest of the project will expand on the world “Owo Oluwa” has introduced.
