Onyemaka Desmond (born 23 July 1994), known professionally as Urban, is a Nigerian singer, rapper, and songwriter. He started recording in 2009 in Kaduna under the guidance of his then producer Emly, his first studio single titled “Sho gbo” was a blend of Afro Pop and Rap, which was a huge record in Northern Nigeria at the time. Urban rose to more prominence when he released his second single titled Urban ft songstress Diva ice also produced by Emly.
He inked his record deal with HCOMUSIC in 2011 and has been working and developing under the label imprint since then. His hit single of 2018 titled ‘Third Mainland Bridge’ produced by Stevjazz got him huge recognition in and outside Africa, with a unique blend of Afro-pop and trap sound.
Urban has worked and collaborated with some top talents in the industry, writing and composing music for young and established acts. He has over a hundred songs recorded and has teamed up with talented producers such as Stevjazzbeat, Kronikbeats, Metro beat.
His unique blend of Afro-fusion with mainstream sounds like Rap, Pop, Funk has given him a blend of good African vibes with some witty flows and delivery. His dream of carrying his music beyond the shores of Africa has gotten him recognition from top producers in the United States of America like Teddy Riley and Smoov.
