AMVCA: Deyemi pulls a Will Smith stunt at Ik, Iyabo and Funke play down feud rumors, other Highlights [VIDEO]

The much anticipated 8th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards was such a big and memorable event for the entertainment industry in Nigeria.

The event which was held at the Eko Hotels, Lagos State, was hosted by IK Osakioduwa and South Africa’s Bonang Matheba.

Without further ado, WITHIN NIGERIA brings you exciting moments from the star-studded show.

1) Deyemi, IK recreate ‘Will Smith & Chris Rock moment’

The show started with actor Deyemi Okanlawon who tried to pull a Will Smith stunt at popular media personality, Ik Osakioduwa, the show’s presenter when Osakioduwa joked about the need for Nollywood stars to up their games in movie production and acting to earn awards.

Obviously not impressed with Osakioduwa’s jokes, Deyemi Okanlawon walked furiously to meet Ik Osakioduwa at the stage but was dragged back by the bouncers.

2) Iyabo Ojo and Funke Akindele moment, Funke and JJC Moment and moment Iyabo Ojo fumbled on stage

Another exciting moment, was when JJC Skillz and his wife, Funke Akinele appeared on stage to receive an award together, thus disregarding claims that they are having a marital crisis. It was beautiful watching JJC Skillz shouting and hailing wife with excitement and joy and the best part was when Funke Akindele dedicated her award to him and their twins.

* Still on Funke Akindele, her and Actress Iyabo Ojo put their alleged beef of many years aside by embracing and exchanging pecks at the ongoing Africa Magic Viewers Choice Award season 8.

Funke Akindele embraced Iyabo Ojo after she stepped on stage to accept the award for her movie, Omo Ghetto the saga which was announced by the latter.

Gushing about the moment, Iyabo Ojo said “My day started well but damn!!! i almost didn’t make the #amvcca8 ….Presenting an Award to Funke & most especially hugging her made my day ..Congratulations on your wins mate”

Recall that on 9th December 2021, Eniola Badmus celebrated her 20 years in Nollywood, and many of her colleagues turned up for the event except Funke Akindele and as a result, Iyabo Ojo threw her a subtle shade.

There were speculations that Funke Akindele shunned the event to avoid any drama with Iyabo Ojo and Toyin Abraham following their long time beef.

*Still on Iyabo Ojo, There was also the moment she fumbled on stage when announcing some category winners with actress Caroline Danjuma, for best MakeUp Artist in a Movie/TV Series. We aren’t sure if it was deliberate or indeed a fumble.

Tributes to Departed Nollywood Stars

Also worthy of mention was the beautiful rendition of Beyonce’s ‘I was Here’ by Nigerian Idol 2021 finalists, Kingdom and Akunna, in honor of the departed Nollywood super stars.

Yemi Alade, Lagbaja, Rema and D’banj’s performance

Some other favorite performances were that of Yemi Alade who opened the show, singer Lagbaja and his ever green konko below track and also D’banj closing performance for the show.
