Mohbad: “No evidence, no charges” – Naira Marley’s sister fumes, calls for his release from police custody

In the aftermath of Mohbad's heartbreaking demise, Naira Marley, who was far from home at the time, found himself in hot water, as a storm of accusations from the public rained down upon him. This tempest forced him to make a hasty return to Nigeria, where he was promptly nabbed by the authorities, locked up in police custody for more than 24 days and counting. His sister, armed with legal know-how, is standing her ground, arguing that her bro should be set free since there's not a shred of evidence or any charges tying him to the case so far.

Mohbad: “No evidence, no charges” – Naira Marley’s sister fumes, calls for his release from police custody
  • Naira Marley’s sister, Shubomi, has made a fervent plea for her brother’s freedom, weeks following his arrest in connection with Mohbad’s unfortunate passing.
  • She passionately argued that detaining the Marlian label chief was a blatant infringement of his basic human rights, ignited a firestorm of reactions from netizens

Shubomi Fashola, sister of Nigerian Rapper Afeez Fashola, aka Naira Marley, recently caused a buzz after she called on authorities to release him from police custody.

WITHIN NIGERIA recalls reporting that Naira Marley’s return to the country landed him in police cell, all in connection with the unfortunate demise of his ex-signee.

Shubomi, in a post via her Instastory, stated that Naira Marley willingly returned to the country and has been kept in detention for nearly 30 days with no charge nor evidence.

She averred that his continued detention might be an attempt to pacify the online community’s outcry.

In related news, as part of its ongoing efforts to secure the musical rights of the works of the late singer, Mohbad, the House of Representatives, on Thursday, summoned controversial singer Azeez Fashola, aka Naira Marley, to appear before it.

According to reports, the House, through its Committee on Justice, Youth and Legislative Compliance, also invited the manager of the late singer, Jiggy Adeoye, to an interactive session slated for Tuesday, October 31.

The House resolution followed the adoption of a motion moved by Babajimi Benson, the lawmaker representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency, Lagos state, on Thursday.

Benson had called for a review of relevant laws guiding the entertainment industry as well as copyright laws while expressing concerns about the contracts and agreements that entertainers are compelled to sign, Vanguard reported.

In a letter dated October 26, signed by the committee’s clerk, Yusuf Ibrahim, the House said both Naira Marley and Mohbad’s manager were needed to guide the committee on further legislative action.
