Angela Okorie, others blast Zubby Michael for rocking red T-shirt to Junior Pope’s funeral, he reacts

In the hushed reverence of the funeral parlor, Black, the color of darkness and mourning, has long been the accepted standard for funerary dress, a visual testament to the solemnity of the occasion. However, amidst a sea of black-clad mourners at Junior Pope's funeral, Zubby Michael dared to be different, donning a bold red t-shirt that sparked a firestorm of criticism from Angela Okorie and others. But Zubby was not one to back down, countering the backlash with solid researched facts.

  • Zubby Michael, a prominent Nollywood actor, attended the burial of the late movie star Junior Pope in Enugu, an event that garnered significant attention online.
  • Following the release of videos showing Zubby at the solemn occasion, actress Angela Okorie took to social media to harshly criticize his choice of outfit for the funeral, to which he swiftly reacted.

Nollywood actor Zubby Michael has fired back at his Antagonizer colleague, Angela Okorie, who criticized him for wearing a red T-shirt to the funeral of their late friend and fellow actor, Junior Pope.

The burial of late Nollywood actor Junior Pope, recently took place in Enugu and his colleague, Zubby Michael, was in attendance. 

Videos of the movie star at the solemn occasion made the rounds online and sparked mixed reactions from netizens.

However, Actress Angela Okorie, one Facebook user, Ossai Ovie Success, others took to their pages to complain about Zubby Michael’s choice of clothing at the burial ceremony. The actor wore a simple red T-shirt with brown chinos trousers.

Angela Okorie, who has persistently taken issue with Zubby Michael following Junior Pope’s tragic passing, raised doubts about his choice of a red T-shirt for the funeral.

She implied that Zubby’s attendance was motivated more by her ongoing criticism than genuine affection for the deceased.

The actress openly lamented her absence, noting her current location abroad. She firmly asserted that if she had been there, she would have undoubtedly caused a stir.

She wrote:

“Zubby no go that burial because he too love Junior pop o, Na Propaganda he Dey do Cos I don drag am pass I pass my Nabour generator, Nigga wear red go burial like say na ogwuego meeting he Dey go.

“Anything you do in this life No die o, refuse to die o. It’s unfortunate am in America Cos na film people for watch Walai. Chaiii JP Nwannem Thank you for all the beautiful memories you shared with us, You will never be forgotten. Go well Nwannem.”

Amidst the criticism, Zubby Michael swiftly turned to his Instagram story, sharing a screenshot of a supportive fan’s comment.

The fan, known as @treasureking_, boldly called out Zubby Michael’s critics, urging them to delve into some research,  emphasized that the conventional belief that black is the only suitable color for a funeral attire is outdated and restrictive.

He wrote: “@zubbymichael For people wey de yarn rubbish cuz u wear red Make dem browse am and know say no be only black dem de wear mourn”
