Simi shows solidarity with #EndBadGovernance movement
  • Popular Nigerian singer Simi has voiced support for the #EndBadGovernance protests against hunger and poor governance.
  • The nationwide protest began on August 1 and will continue until August 10, with protesters in several states carrying placards with their demands.
  • There have been clashes on social media, with some accusing celebrities of not advocating enough for the common man. 
  • Simi expressed her solidarity on the popular microblogging platform X (formerly Twitter)

Famous Nigerian singer, songwriter, and music producer Simisola Kosoko, popularly known as Simi, has expressed her support for the nationwide protests against hunger and poor governance sweeping across Nigeria.

On August 1, thousands of Nigerians took to the streets in various states to participate in the #EndBadGovernance protest, which is set to run until August 10.

Protesters carried placards pointing out their demands for government accountability and better living conditions.

The protests have sparked a heated debate on social media, with some criticizing celebrities for allegedly not using their platforms to support the movement.

In response, Simi has voiced her solidarity with the protesters through a tweet.

In her words;

“I will ALWAYS stand with my people #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria.”

This show of support by Simi comes amid ongoing clashes between celebrities and online users who question their commitment to advocating for social change.
