Drama in Mohbad case as Jigan responds to VDM’s leaked group chat allegations involving Iyabo Ojo, others

Verydarkman, Jigan, Tonto Dikeh and Iyabo Ojo

Nigerian actor and comedian Jigan Babaoja has addressed the serious accusations made against him by social media activist Martins Vincent Otse aka VeryDarkMan (VDM), who claimed the actor was part of a coordinated conspiracy to silence him through arrest and public humiliation.

In a new video shared on Instagram, Jigan responded directly to the allegations, which stemmed from an earlier exposé by VeryDarkMan.

VDM had released screenshots claiming that a WhatsApp group originally formed to seek justice for late singer Mohbad had become a tool for vendetta and reputation damage.

He alleged that several celebrities — including Iyabo Ojo, Tonto Dikeh, Samklef, Jigan, and others — used the group to plot his arrest and orchestrate the leak of a private video intended to disgrace him.

Jigan, however, strongly denied the claims in his latest response. He revealed that he joined the Justice for Mohbad WhatsApp group out of a genuine emotional connection to the late artist, who had referenced him positively in one of his hit songs.

According to the actor, his involvement in the group was driven purely by solidarity and concern for justice — not to suppress dissenting voices like VeryDarkMan’s.

He went on to clarify that his contributions in the group were limited to the early days when it appeared focused and coordinated. However, as the direction of the group became unclear and fractured, Jigan said he quietly withdrew and ceased commenting.

Contrary to VeryDarkMan’s allegations, Jigan emphasized that he was never involved in any discussions aimed at targeting the activist, nor was he part of any effort to arrange a smear campaign through leaked videos or manipulated narratives.

The accusations have once again ignited debate online over the internal conflicts that have plagued the Justice for Mohbad movement, a cause that began with widespread public support following the singer’s sudden and mysterious death in September 2023.

As public figures trade accusations, many observers now worry that personal agendas and celebrity rifts may have overshadowed the core demand for truth, accountability, and justice.
