The Lagos State government has announced plans to shut down the Marine Bridge for three months for emergency repair works.
The Commissioner for Transportation in the State, Dr Frederic Oladeinde, in a statement noted that the closure of the bridge would begin on March 9 and will last till June 21.
Oladeinde explained that closing down the bridge in order to maintain its Infrastructure was necessary.
He added that during the period of the partial closure, alternative routes will be mapped out to enable free-flow of traffic.
“Motorists in Apapa are advised to make use of Total underneath the bridge to connect Naval Dockyard to Danlami to Leventis corridor and also to use Marine Beach by Mobil through Federal Fire Service to Wharf Road.
“Motorists from Ajegunle in Iganmu or Ijora should use Agbo Malu to Tego Barracks to Total underneath the bridge and ascend Marine Bridge to their desired destinations,” the statement said.
Oladeinde said that officials of the Traffic Management Personnel (LASTMA) would be deployed to manage traffic burdens at the alternative routes.
He urged residents of the state to be patient with the ongoing constructions, adding that efforts were being made to provide quality and safe roads for all.
