The All Progressives Congress (APC) has reacted to the attack on the convoy of Benue governor, Samuel Ortom, saying crime is crime and it should not be politicised.

Recall that gunmen suspected to be herdsmen on Saturday attacked Ortom’s convoy while on a visit to his farm.

Several people including northern governors’ forum, the main opposition party, PDP have condemned and criticised the attack.

APC in a statement released on Sunday said it is confident that security agencies will bring the culprits to book.

John James Akpanudoedehe, caretaker, APC convention planning committee, said the party “condemns the attack on the convoy of the Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom. We thank God for his safety and praise the dutiful security details for repelling the attack.

“We are confident our security services will do everything to unravel the criminals behind the attack and bring them to book.

“The APC reiterates that we must all collaborate to end criminality in all forms. A crime is a crime and should not be politicised in any way.”

David Mark, former senate president, and Atiku Abubakar, former vice-president, are among those who have condemned the attack on the governor’s convoy.
