Troops engage bandits, kill two and destroy camps in Kaduna

Two bandits have been killed by troops of Operation Thunder Strike (OPTS) and One Division of the Nigerian Army in Buruku general area of Chikun local government area of Kaduna state.

WITHIN NIGERIA learnt that a search-and-rescue operations was also conducted by troops around Buruku forest, precisely in Rima village as part of the ongoing operations against armed bandits covering five local government areas of Kaduna Central Senatorial District.

This was disclosed by Samuel Aruwan, the Kaduna State Commissioner for internal Security and Home Affairs.

Aruwan said the troops engaged the bandits in a gun battle after which two of the criminals were neutralizedh while several bandit camps were also cleared and destroyed during the operation.

In other news, WITHIN NIGERIA reported that Islamic cleric, Ahmad Gumi has said that bandits will not let go of their arms if they are not sure of their safety and rehabilitation into the society.

Gumi stated this on Wednesday during a virtual event hosted by the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies.

The meeting was organised to discuss Nigeria’s security challenges.
