WITHIN NIGERIA learnt that the retired school principal is reportedly lying in a critical state after he was attacked with machete on his farm by suspected herdsmen in lsokun area of lgangan, in Ibarapa North Local Government Area of Oyo State on Saturday April 3.

According to report, trouble started when a herder directed his cows to feed on the yam flour the victim had spread on the floor for sun drying.

Angered by this move, the retired principal challenged the decision of the herder but he was met by a resistant herder who reportedly drew out his machete with an intention to strike him.

Report further revealed that the farmer suffered a deep cut in the process of trying to block the machete with his bare hand.

Residents say that despite the first cut, the herder did not stop but gave the farmer another cut on the hand while the cows fed on the yam flour.

His shout for help forced the herders to leave him in a pool of his blood. Other residents of the community who found him writhing in pain, rushed him to the hospital where he is currently receiving medical attention.

Speaking on the development, the police command in Oyo confirmed the incident and further stated that the attack was in reprisal of an earlier attack on three herdsmen by youths of the community.
