One Okwudili Obi and three others have been arrested for multiple murders by the Delta State Police Command.

The acting Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Bright Edafe, stated this on Thursday in Asaba, the Delta State capital.

Edafe said Obi had been on the wanted list of the police command.

“On Wednesday, April 14, 2021, police operatives attached to the Delta State Intelligence Bureau, after a series of intelligence gathering, with the assistance of the command’s tactical teams, stormed the Asem-Uku community in the Ndokwa East LGA and successfully arrested one Okwudili Obi and three others.

“Obi is the notorious principal suspect in a case of multiple murders and arson that led to the destruction of many houses in the community,

“The suspect, Okwudili Obi, happens to be one of the principal suspects involved in the murder of one Sunday Nwachukwu and Fidelis Amani, who were allegedly murdered sometime in the year 2017 in the Asemo-Uku community.

“He and his cohorts have been on the wanted list of the command. Exhibits recovered from him include three cutlasses, six daggers, one long sword, charms wrapped with red/white blood stained cloths,” he said.

He added that the case was still under investigation with a view to arresting Obi’s accomplices, who are currently at large.

In another development, the Police PRO said sequel to the cult clash that led to the killing of some suspected cult members in Otu-Jeremi, the Commissioner of Police, Muhammed Ali, had ordered the Divisional Police Officer, Otu-Jeremi Division, to fish out those involved and bring them to justice.

Edafe said the DPO, SP Pius Eredei, in compliance with the directive, had been on the lookout and acted on a tip-off to arrest 19 year-old, Michael Oghorume, who allegedly murdered one Timaya.

He said Oghorume was suspected to be a member of the Dominion Confraternity in the Eyara community, Otu-Jeremi.

The Police PRO said the suspect made useful statement, which led to the arrest of one Timothy Samuel, 20, of Eyara community and three others on Tuesday, adding that exhibits recovered from them included a double-barrelled cut-to-size gun, some rolls of electric wires and a cutlass.
