The Federal High Court sitting in Minna, Niger state has remanded two persons for allegedly publishing injurious statement on social media against former Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar.

The suspects, Abdulkareem Ajibola and Anas Umar allegedly published and circulated on social media using their galaxy smartphone that Former Head of State was the owner of a helicopter supplying arms and other logistics to bandits perpetuating their acts in Niger state.

The police prosecutor, Jude Akaeze stated that the suspects had contravened Section 24 Sub – Section (1B) of the cyber crime law.

Akaeze prayed for adjournment to enable him present witnesses to prove allegations against the defendants.

But defending counsel, Abdulkareem Abubakar moved oral motion for bail arguing that the accused persons have already stayed for one month in the correctional center and have also pleaded not guilty to the four charges against them.

Justice Emeka Nwite, however, urged the defending counsel to do the needful in applying for bail and adjourned to 26th July, 2021 to commence trail ordering that the accused persons should be remanded in correctional center.
