Ismail Omipidan, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Gboyega Oyetola has confirmed that Comrade Amitolu Shittu has not been sacked by the Osun state government.

This confirmation was made by Omipidan when asked about the position of the state government on the rift between the chief of staff, Charles Akinola and Field Marshal of Osun Amotekun.

Recall that the field marshal of Osun Amotekun, Amitolu Shittu once berated Charles Akinola, chief of staff to Governor Oyetola in a now deleted facebook post where he accused him of mismanagement of funds and painted him as a man of doubtful integrity.

An undisclosed source told WITHIN NIGERIA that the disciplinary committee set up by the government headed by the SSG to investigate the matter recommended the sacking of Amitolu Shittu, the field marshal of Osun Amotekun.

Amitolu Shittu has been sacked and that is why there is little or no progressive action taken on Osun Amotekun so far, the source added.

Reacting to the development, Ismail Omipidan, who was a guest at the second edition of monthly media parley organised by Osun Online Media Practitioners revealed that Amitolu Shittu remains the field marshal of Osun Amotekun and he is working efficiently alongside other security operatives of the state to see to the security of our people on behalf of the governor.

Speaking on the allegations raised by Amitolu Shittu, field commandant of Osun Amotekun, Omipidan stated that he was not part of last administration and he does not react to issues he has little or no knowledge about.

I did not know what transpired. I was not living in Osun then. It will be unfair to me if you ask me to comment on matters I’m ignorant of. But what I do know is there was an administrative way to deal with the matter. We have dealt with it as a government and we have moved on.
