Zamfara state police command has disclosed that its operatives have killed a notorious bandit and rescued eleven victims in captivity.

This development was confirmed on Thursday by the police public relations officer, Muhammad Shehu in Gusau.

Shehu said a large number of bandits blocked the Gusau to Sokoto road along Dogon Karfe, yesterday at about 1pm, causing commuters to run for their lives.

“The Police tactical operatives on patrol along the road quickly mobilise to the location.

“On arrival at the scene, the police were engaged in a gun duel by bandits who already abducted innocent commuters and were about to take them to the forest.

“The operatives gallantly repelled them, deterring the hoodlums from further onslaught on the commuters.”

According to him, one of the bandits was neutralised and eleven victims kidnapped by the bandit were rescued by the police operatives.

“The command is intensifying various search and rescue strategies to safely rescue the remaining victims who were taken to the forest before the police arrived,” Shehu said.

“All the rescued victims have been reunited with their families.

Hussaini Rabiu, commissioner of police in Zamfara, has assured the people of the command’s commitment towards ending security problems in the state.
