Driver dead, 17 passengers injured in Ogun lone accident

There was tragedy along the Abeokuta-Ibadan highway, as a driver of a Toyota Hiace commercial bus died, while 17 other passengers sustained injuries in a lone accident which occurred on Thursday.

It was gathered that the accident, which involved a commercial bus (KRD 356 XJ) occurred at Kila,

WITHIN NIGERIA reports that the crash, which occurred at 3:53pm was caused by speeding on the part of the driver.

The Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement (TRACE) Corps, Mr Babatunde Akinbiyi, told newsmen that the vehicle was inbound Abeokuta from Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

According to Akinbiyi, “the bus driver was coming from Ibadan inbound Abeokuta, when it suddenly lost control of the bus due to speeding, it hit a culvert and tumbled.”

He disclosed that the driver lost his life immediately, saying his family had taken possession of his corpse.

Those who sustained injuries in the incident were said to be receiving treatment at Peace Hospital, Omi Adio, Oyo State.
