Fourteen persons die in Jigawa auto crash

No fewer than 14 persons have died in a ghastly motor accident in Ringim Local Government Area of Jigawa State.

ASP Lawan Shiisu Adam, the Police State spokesman, confirmed the incident in a statement issued to newsmen in Dutse, the State capital.

He said the incident happened yesterday at about 7:40 AM at Kwanar-Gerawa in Ringim Local Government area.

Adam explained that the fatal motor accident involved a Gulf 3 vehicle with Reg.no BH628DKA driven by one Magaji Yakubu from Timbau village Gezawa Local Government, Kano State, who was coming from Kano heading towards Ringim and had head on collision with an oncoming vehicle gulf 3, with Reg.no TRN541AA driven by one Usman Isyaku of Dausayi village Gezawa Local Government, Kano State.

He said both vehicles were carrying passengers and as a result, fourteen passengers, seven females and seven men died on the spot.

Adam said the victims were taken to Ringim General Hospital and were confirmed dead by the medical doctor.

He said their corpse have been handed over to their relatives for funerals rites.

This is coming just few days after twenty-one army recruits died after a bridge collapsed at Gwaram.
