Kenyan woman in court for strangling neighbour using bra

One Jackline Anyango, a middle-aged Kenyan woman has been arraigned before a Kisumu court for allegedly strangling her neighbour with bra.

Appearing before Chief Magistrate Peter Gesora, the court heard how Anyango assaulted Vivian Adhiambo on June 25 at Obunga in Kisumu County, by slapping her on the neck and strangling her using a bra.

She was charged with malicious injury to property contrary to section 339(1) of the penal code, and wilfully and unlawfully damaging a radio and a chair said to be properties of Vivian Adhiambo.

Anyango who was also accused of stealing a mobile phone worth ksh15,500, however pleaded not guilty to all the charges read to her before court.

In her defence, she told court that the complainant threatened her that she will use all the money she has to ensure that she is locked up.

Anyango said;

“She told me that she has a lot of money and she will ensure that I am arrested.”

She was released on a bond of ksh30,000 by the magistrate who adjourned the case till September 21.
