“We have received a report of an attack by unknown gunmen who stormed the headquarters of Tangaza LGA on Friday evening,” he said.

“The bandits killed one of the traders, abducted yet an unspecified number of people, and in the process carted away foodstuffs and drinks.

“However, the police, in collaboration with other security agencies are still investigating the matter.”

NAN quoted a source as saying a young girl, who was also shot by the bandits, died after been taken to the hospital.

The source reportedly said that three other persons sustained injuries and are currently receiving treatment in a hospital.

“However, the timely intervention of security agencies, alongside local vigilante, had led to the rescue of one of the five children abducted by the gunmen,” the source was quoted to have said.

TheCable had reported that some northern governors took some security measures to curtail the activities of bandits in their states.

Some of the measures included the closure of markets in the region, closure of some roads, and the suspension of the transportation of cattle in trucks.

The decision of the governors is reportedly taking a toll on the bandits.

Zamfara, Katsina and Sokoto are the states that have taken this measure.
