The Lagos state government has threatened to close nightclubs, bars, and lounges in the Lekki axis of Lagos State if they do not stop causing noise pollution.

According to a statement issued by the Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tunji Bello, enforcement raids were recently conducted on certain nightclubs in Lekki in response to persistent complaints from residents.

According to Bello, the Prest Jazz Club on Admiralty Way in Lekki was closed after LASEPA enforcement agents searched the club and discovered big speakers and musical instruments screaming loudly.

He went on to say that many inhabitants of highbrow Lekki, particularly the elderly, have besieged his office with complaints regarding the negative impact of noise pollution on their health every night till the early hours of the morning.

Bello, who indicated that the process will be ongoing, encouraged groups known for their noise pollution to retrace their ways before it was too late. He stated that such businesses will be closed and the owners punished.
