”The hoodlums were gallantly resisted by police operatives on duty.

“However, a policeman, who sustained gunshot injury, was rushed to the hospital and he is responding to treatment.”

According to NAN, the police said the gunmen must have escaped with serious gunshot wounds.

There have been several attacks on police stations and other government facilities in the south-eastern part of the country in recent times.

Recall that two members of a neighbourbood watch group on Tuesday in Ogurute, Enugu-Ezike were killed when gunmen attacked their office in Enugu.

The proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has been blamed for the attacks, but the group has insisted that it is not responsible for the recent violence.

However, as part of efforts to improve security in the south-east region, Usman Baba, the inspector-general of police (IGP), launched the ‘operation Restore Peace’
