There was shooting on Saturday as supporters of former Ogun State Governor Senator Ibikunle Amosun gathered at the Ake Palace Pavilion for the All Progressives Congress State Congress (APC).

Some armed political thugs had stormed the congress site, firing frequently to frighten away Amosun supporters.

The gunfire began as soon as Senator Tolu Odebiyi and Hon. Adekunle Akinlade arrived at the Ake palace grounds.

Hundreds of party supporters fled for safety, despite police efforts to restore normalcy.

According to a report by Dailypost, policemen had locked up the Ake palace to prevent the former Governor’s supporters from holding a congress, but they later left the venue after an order from above.

Newsmen report that Governor Dapo Abiodun’s faction of the APC would hold its congress at the MKO Abiola Stadium, Abeokuta.
