The Zamfara State Police Command has explained the arrest of one Mugira Yusuf by command operatives on Thursday, October 21, 2021.

According to the command, on January 17, 2020, the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ayuba Elkanah, received an official report of suspected criminal conspiracy and instigating public disturbance against Mugira Yusuf and one Ukashatu Abubakar.

According to a press release issued by the state police spokesman, SP Mohammed Shehu, throughout the course of the investigation at the State CID, one of the suspects, Ukashatu Abubakar, was detained and charged in court, while Mugira Yusuf escaped and has been evading capture ever since.

“On Thursday, 21st October 2021, the second suspect, Mugira Yusuf was arrested at Unguwar Dallatu area, Gusau by Police operatives investigating the case. The suspect was charged to court since on Friday 22nd October, 2021.

“In view of the above, members of the public are enjoined to note that, the arrest was not Politically motivated as being reported by some media. The Police as law enforcement agency will continue to discharge its functions in line with constitutional provisions and other professional ethics,” the statement said.

The Command however appealed to the general public to assist the police and other security agencies by giving them vital information that would lead to the arrest of the criminal elements in the state.

SP Shehu urged the residents of the state to as a matter of fact disregard such fabricated information meant to disabuse the minds of the people of the state.
