N58bn disbursed to poor Nigerians in 2 months – FG

In the last two months, the Federal Government has distributed N58 billion to Nigerians through the Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT).

The announcement was made on Thursday by Halima Shehu, National Coordinator, Household Uplifting Programme – Conditional Cash Transfer (HUP – CCT).

Shehu spoke at the Yola commencement of a two-day step-down training on HUP-CCT beneficiary orientation and sensitization.

She explained that the initiative was started to assist development goals, with a focus on enhancing household consumption.

The official noted that poverty and hunger are high among rural dwellers, especially female-headed households with little sources of income.

The government established the HUP – CCT), with ‘Beta don come’ slogan to assist the lower class, Shehu explained.

“In the last two months, across the country, the Federal Government has disbursed the sum of N58billion to the less privileged”, NAN quoted her as saying.

The coordinator disclosed that Adamawa government signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Federal Government to participate in the programme in 2016.
