Rivers State Police Command has announced a ban on the use of sirens, revolving lights, spy and covered plate numbers by unapproved and unauthorized persons in the State.

The Commissioner of Police, Friday Eboka said the ban followed observation that criminals and other unauthorized persons were using them to commit crimes in the State.

CP Eboka said the ban was consequent upon an earlier directive by the Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali against the abuse and indiscriminate use of sirens, revolving lights, spy and covered plate numbers, without appropriate approvals.

In a statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Suprintendant of Police SP Nnamdi Omoni, the CP noted that a taskforce headed by ACP Jepthan Nengi had been set up to ensure full compliance to the ban.
