Ikoyi Club suspends Modupe Alakija, billionaire Folorunso’s husband

Modupe Alakija, the husband of billionaire Folorunso Alakija, has been suspended by the popular Ikoyi Club in Lagos over an alleged assault.

According to a circular signed by Bamidele Ibironke, the secretary of Ikoyi Club, Modupe was accused of physically assaulting and abusing one of its members.

The notice said the suspension would run from December 2021 to November 2022.

“The above-named member of the club is hereby placed on a one-year suspension for physically assaulting and abusing a fellow member,” it read.

“Conduct injurious to the interest of the club, thereby violating Rule 9(C) of the club’s rule book. This suspension takes effect from December 1, 2021 to November 30th 2022.”

Modupe is a lawyer and son of Adeyemo Alakija, the famous Nigerian legal practitioner.
