Kenyan Pupil chokes to death while eating bread he was given for being the most punctual student

While eating a loaf of bread and a bottle of soda he was given for being one of the most disciplined pupils in the school, a Class 8 pupil of Sikura Primary School in Butula constituency, Busia county of Kenya has choked to death.

According to Butula Sub-County Police Commander Jacob Chelimo, the school headteacher Dismas Pepela claimed in a report that the incident occurred after pupils gathered for the award ceremony in which outstanding pupils were recognized.

The pupil reportedly died while receiving treatment at Bulwani dispensary. Chelimo said;

“The headteacher reported to the police that around 4:00 pm in the evening, the pupils had gathered for a ceremony to award some pupils for outstanding performance in various categories.

“One of the pupils identified as H.O. was choked while eating bread and he, unfortunately, died while receiving treatment at Bulwani dispensary. My officers went to the scene and confirmed the incident.”

The police commander also confirmed that the matter was taken up by DCI.
