A truck driver has been handed him over to the police after he reportedly crushed an official of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, to death and injured another on the Sagamu-Ijebu Ode Road, Ogun State.

IT was gathered that the truck driver was apprehended by mob – motorists and motorcycle riders, who witnessed the accident.

The Ogun State Sector Commander, FRSC, Ahmed Umar, who confirmed the killing to journalists in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital said that the accident occurred on Monday.

Umar said the accident was caused by the carelessness of the truck driver.

He said, “The driver was on top speed when he lost control and hit the officers.

“The officers were just standing by their vehicle. It was a flat body truck; the truck hit the officer and brushed him against the patrol vehicle. The officer died, while another marshal got injured.”

The sector commander explained that the truck driver did not stop after hitting the officers, adding that he had been arrested and handed over to the police for prosecution.

Umar noted that the injured marshal was receiving treatment in a hospital.
