Nuhu Bitrus, a community leader in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State has explained how gunmen killed three farmers in three different attacks in the council area while injuring others.

This was made known by the community leader, Bitrus while speaking with newsmen in Jos on Monday night.

According to Bitrus, the attacks on the farmers by the gummen started on Friday when a 49-year-old farmer identified as Timeh Evi was ambushed and killed at his irrigation farm in Nzhwerenvi village.

Bitrus, who is the spokesman for the Miango Youths Development Association, noted that after killing Evi, the gunmen made away with his motorcycle and water pump machine while leaving traces of his blood in the farm.

The community leader further stated, “Again, early Morning of Monday, Fulani militia attacked and ambushed two people on their way to farm at Ncha village.

“One was killed while the other sustained a gunshot injury in her mouth and had been taken to the hospital for treatment.

“Also in another ambush at Ancha village on Monday; the gummen attacked two persons and killed another villager whose name was given as Stephen Monday (28 years old). The attackers also injured another person named Ejoma Stephen.”

The community leader said that the killings had created tension in the affected communities.

He called on the government and the security agents to intervene in the situation and save the villagers from further attacks.

The spokesman for the Plateau State Police Command, Ubah Ogaba, when contacted, could not be reached for comments on the incidents.
