Malawian woman, two children arrested for parading woman naked for allegedly having affair with her husband

A Malawian woman, Rosina Matewere and her two children, Deus Matewere and Lydia Matewere has been attested by the police for assaulting and parading a woman naked in full view of onlookers after accusing her of having affair with her husband.

The suspects were arrested hours after the social media was awash with a disturbing video clip that showed the suspects assaulting while undressing the victim in Sosola Village in the area of Traditional Authority Nsamala-Balaka.

Rosina Matewere had accused the assaulted woman of being in a sexual relationship with her husband.

According to Malawi police service spokesperson, James Kadadzera, the incident took place on Sunday February 13.

He said the victim was severely assaulted and paraded naked which is a gross misconduct on the decency of womanhood.

The three suspects were on the run following the incident.

The suspects appeared before Balaka magistrate court on Wednesday, February 16, on charges of assault, insulting the modesty of a women and theft.

Balaka magistrate, Phillip Chibwana, adjourned the case to Monday next week.

The magistrate also denied bail application for the three suspects.

Meanwhile, Malawi police have since appealed to the general public not to use of inhumane measures including physical abuse on individuals they are not in good books with, saying anyone found indulging in such malpractices shall face the wrath of the law.
