Two illegal marketers arrested with 30 kegs of petrol in Kwara

The Kwara Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested two men, Yunus Yusuf, 32 and Ismail Olamilekan 33, for allegedly engaging in illegal sales of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS).

This is contained in a statement signed by Mr Babawale Afolabi, Spokesperson of the command, on Thursday in Ilorin.

The statement said the two suspects were arrested with more than 30 kegs fiiled with PMS, which “they apparently bought from neighbouring state and planned to sell at a high price to end users in Kwara.

“As directed by the state Commandant, Makinde Ayinla, the anti-vandal unit of the command, led by the unit commander ACC Ayinde Yusuf, made the arrest as they continued with their operational activities.

“The patrol is ongoing to check any action or inaction that can worsen the current fuel scarcity situation in the state,” he said.

Afolabi said that the command’s patrol team intercepted a cab at Eyenkorin Area, which was conveying the 30 kegs loaded with PMS.

He said that the suspect confessed to be engaged in illegal (black market) petrol business, adding that they had purchased the product at Ogbomoso with the intention of re-selling same at exhorbitant price in Ilorin.
