Alhaji Sanusi Rikij, the Chief of Staff to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila has resigned his appointment and declared interest in contesting in the Senate bye-election for Zamfara Central Senatorial zone.

Rikiji, who was also the immediate past Speaker of the Zamfara State House of Assembly, is contesting the vacant senate position following the resignation of Senator Hassan Nasiha, who is currently the deputy governor of the state.

He visited the state All Progressives Congress headquarters along Sokoto By-pass Road, Gusau, to announce his interest in the position.

He told the state APC executives under the chairmanship of Tukur Danfulani that he wanted to occupy the senate seat to further contribute his quota to the political and socio-economic growth of the state.

The former speaker also explained that he intended to add quality to the good representation by the past senators at the national assembly.

He said he was contesting to assist and support the efforts of Governor Bello Matawalle in the fight against security.

The aspirant thanked the party leaders for the reception given him and pledged his continued loyalty to the party and its leadership.

Danfulani expressed happiness with the way the aspirant followed the due process in declaring his intention.
