Julius Osahon, the former Chairman of the Federated Correspondent Chapel, FCC in Bayelsa State, who was abducted, has been freed by his captors.

It was unclear whether a ransom was paid to his kidnappers in exchange for his freedom, but the pressman was released this morning in Delta State.

Okies Veeky, the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists’ Warri Correspondent Chapel in Delta State, verified his release in a phone conversation with journalists in Warri.

Okies praised God Almighty for saving the Journalist’s life and releasing him from the lair of his captors, but he did not reveal how much money was given as a ransom for his release.

He said, “That is for the wife of the journalist to say. I cannot categorically say if anything was paid as ransom.”

He called on the relevant security agencies to up their games in the fight against insecurity in the state.

Comrade Okies enjoined practising journalists in Warri and its environs to be conscious of the security situation and do less travelling.

At the time of filing this report, the Delta State Police Command led by CP Ari Muhammed Ali is yet to make any comments on the matter.
