One person killed and another injured after a truck driver driving against traffic crushed a passenger bus on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

The accident happened on Wednesday around 9.30am before the toll gate at Ibadan, Oyo State

According to PUNCH, a motorist, Lekan Oyegbade, blamed the accident on the truck driver who he said came out of a quarry around the scene and drove against the traffic.

Oyegbad said the wreckage of the bus was still at the scene when he got there, while belongings of those on the bus were scattered on the road.

The motorist noted that officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, removed the corpse and took the injured to a hospital.

Oyegbade said, “The truck faced oncoming vehicles on their lane and I was told the driver was speeding. The truck rammed into the passenger bus, killed an innocent person and injured another person.

“You know that those truck drivers, after such an accident, will flee and that is exactly what this one also did. He knew that sympathisers could lynch him because the accident was avoidable, so he fled.”

PUNCH reported Sector Commander of the FRSC, Uche Chukwura, who confirmed the accident on the telephone said, “The accident happened after Dominion University on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway today (Wednesday). Three male adults were involved in the accident. One person died and another one sustained injuries.”
