Bukola Saraki, the former President of the Nigerian Senate and a presidential candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has stated that he and other PDP presidential aspirants are currently working on developing a consensus presidential candidate capable of addressing Nigeria’s current insecurity.

He said this following a closed-door meeting with Abia State Governor Okezie Ikpeazu in his country-home of Umuobiakwa in the Obingwa Local Government Area of the state, alongside other prominent PDP presidential aspirants.

His statement was contained in a press release issued on Friday in Umuahia, the state capital, and made available to WITHIN NIGERIA.

The aspirants were in Abia to discuss the possibility of a presidential candidate for the main opposition party in Nigeria.

Other presidential aspirants who visited the Abia Governor alongside Saraki were the Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal; Senator Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, and Dr. Mohammed Hayatudeen.

Saraki maintained that the party is driven by the determination to turn Nigeria around and also expressed optimism that the PDP would emerge victorious in the upcoming general election in the country in 2023.

When asked why Atiku Abubakar, Nigeria’s former vice president, was not among the delegation of the party’s presidential candidates, he said;

“He is fully part of the mission and received full biefings on their consensus mission”.

According to Ememanka, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu was accompanied by a delegation led by the State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon Christopher Ekweremadu, and a prominent industrialist, Elder Raymond Aliga, in receiving the PDP Presidential aspirants.
