Two tricycle passengers have been shot dead by some yet-to-be-identified security operatives in a convoy at Ogbromo Junction, in the Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State.
The incident reportedly occurred around 7am on Wednesday when the overzealous operatives fired gunshots at the two passengers while their tricycle attempted to overtake the convoy.
According to PUNCH, sources said one of the operatives furiously came down and opened fire on the occupants of the tricycle, killing the two passengers.
Pandemonium reportedly enveloped the entire vicinity, as enraged residents and passersby attacked the perpetrators as well as other security men in the area.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident but said the identities of the operatives were unknown.
The PPRO stated that the police had launched an investigation into the incident with a view to unravelling the perpetrators.
