Kola Ologbondiyan, the former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic party has stated that the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, is free to meet or associate with anyone as long as he has not picked the membership card of any other political party different from the PDP.

This was stated on Wednesday by Ologbondiyan during an interview on Arise TV’s ‘The Morning Show’.

He stated that he did not have a problem with Wike meeting with anyone from another political party.

He was responding to questions relating to Wike’s recent meetings with politicians from other political parties in the country.

Recall that Wike had earlier met with some Governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC) including the Governor of Lagos, Ondo and Ekiti states, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Rotimi Akeredolu and Governor Kayode Fayemi.

He also recently met with the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi and a former Governor of Ondo State, Olusegun Mimiko, Monday night.

However, Ologbondiyan said, “As far as I’m concerned, he is at liberty to associate with whosoever he wishes to associate with.

“He’s allowed. When Bukola Saraki left the APC and joined the PDP or when Aminu Tambuwal left the APC and joined the PDP, did it just happen? No, you go and consult. What I’m saying is this, no matter the consultation, no matter the discussions, until Governor Wike goes out and picks the membership card of the APC or he goes out to pick the membership card of the Labour Party, there are no issues as far as I am concerned.

“People can come and see him, they can come and hold parties, they can come and discuss, they can come and analyse. They can discuss all manner of things. He remains a member of the party.”

He noted that Wike remained a party member adding that if there were issues, they would be resolved.

“What is important to us is that the burden that APC is must not come back,” he added.
